ABOUT INOASIS:
Founded in 2021, INOASIS is the result of a successful cross-disciplinary collaboration bridging fine art, design, neuroscience, and perfumery. Its multisensory design research is integrated into a neuro-AI system, offering an interactive, human-centred design process for both commercial projects and domestic applications.
The project was awarded second prize in the Google Gemma 3 Artificial Intelligence Competition, recognising its evidence-based design solutions that address mental wellness through spatial experience.
TEAM:
Led by artist Alex Long Yuan and co-founded with interior designer Star Sun, in collaboration with neuroscientist, perfumer and engineer. The team shares the lens of Gesamtkunstwerk—a total integration of art, science and design. Through human-centred research, they investigate the evolving relationship between people and their environments, converging to offer new solutions for mental wellbeing in the challenge of living with digital and AI interventions.
PHILOSOPHY:
At INOASIS, we believe in designing for human complexity. Our vision is to use Neuro-AI not to replace emotion, but to understand it — creating spaces and products that recognise neurodiversity, honour emotional rhythms, and restore the depth of our sensory lives.
Through the development of a neuro-AI interactive multisensory design research system, we aim to let human sensory response guide the design of living environments, rather than leaving those decisions solely to algorithms.
Human interoception connects deeply with elements such as light, colour, texture and scent, all of which affect emotional responses. This approach allows the team to collaborate with designers and artists on multisensory projects that put emotional intelligence at the centre of innovation.
